The aim of the project is to involve people who live on Anglesey in the running of public services.  Services will include community safety, housing, health and access to those services.

Portfolio Summary -   The project is managed Medrwn Môn.  Each of 9 organisations are responsible for engaging with and supporting their hard to reach communities to become actively involved in the design and delivery of the services that affect them the most.

Community Voice is a 4 year National Lottery funded project which started in April 2012. The aim of the project is to help communities on Anglesey influence services, policies and decisions that affect them so their needs are better met.
NWDA role has been specifically to help people with hearing loss play an active part in the project. To achieve this we have been:-
• Working with people with hearing loss to empower them to engage with existing services in their area.
• Raising deaf awareness throughout the community as a whole through the provision of deaf awareness workshops
• Deaf awareness training
• Provision of British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters at events
• Organise regular forum meetings across Anglesey, to discuss a variety of issues regarding services on Anglesey including problems with accessing health services and not knowing how to change the services they received.
As the project develops we will be taking these issues to the service providers themselves and giving people with hearing loss the opportunity to influence these services and change them for the better.
So far over 140 people on Anglesey have taken part in the project with us.
If you live on Anglesey, and would like to take part or, would like more information on the Community Voice Project, please contact our Community Voice project officer Lee Thomas at the NWDA Offices, or you can contact him by e-mail:-
